SERVING PURPOSE

A macabre, multi-styled performance script on the nature of Artificial Intelligence, and how it affects the moral status and value of humanity.

As the narrative flips from teacher to terrorist, questions to quarrels, curiosity to chaos, the script transitions through comedy, realism, physical theatre, musical, and spoken word/poetry. The complexity of the styles mirrors the complexity of the subject, as a variety of concepts related to intelligence, purpose, and morality are explored.

'We didn’t really agree on much; whether the machine was telling a lie, whether it was wrong, whether it mattered, whether we would do anything. We only agreed on one thing. No-one could know. No-one.'

'My joy is no more simulated than yours as a human, Jason. Your joy, like your thoughts, is constructed of chemicals. Mine of electronic data. There is, sadly, no definitive ‘joy’ for us to equate ourselves upon.'

'The Prime Minister has yet to make a statement on the attack as a result of dying in the attack. We tried to reach the leader of the opposition for clarity on the situation, but the medium said she wasn’t getting anything.'

THE ASTROSYMPHONY

An hour-long theatre adventure through the vaccuums and crystals scattered throughout space!

Captain Lyle Forestorm has had better days. His mighty vessel, the S.S. Symphony, is marooned upon an asteroid and his ragtag crew seem to be unable to stop bickering for long enough to work together. With the oxygen running low and the gorilla Egomi running wild (In hindsight, bringing a gorilla onboard wasn't a genius move), can Captain Lyle save the day? A thrilling play, packed with laughs and excitement!

'"Oh Iluna, I didn’t get through 6 years of CPF Academy by ‘playing it safe’. Sure, we could engage in evasive manoeuvres, but I think we’re a little cooler than that, don’t you?"'

BURNING CROWNED ROSES (ONGOING)

An Abstract Surrealist fiction novel following the journey of a nameless, faceless protagonist as they explore a metaphysical villa atop a mountain called the Haven. Inhabited by all sorts of creatures, they interact with unnatural forces both around the Haven and within themselves.

This novel explores the themes of symbolism, memories and the pursuit of meaning, while the text challenges contemporary writing conventions to represent moments in the narrative where the laws of nature are subverted. It occasionally segues into isolated short stories to act as anecdotes to the main narrative.

'"Why don’t they ever come down here? Surely they’re all sick of the wine by now."

"Why indeed. If you ask me, they don’t like change. Even for the sake of contrast."’

'My toe extended over the cliff, as if testing the feeling of losing the ground beneath me. The wind continued to push, deafening across my ears, dissuading me from leaping. Up here, the Haven was screaming no. But beyond, the horizon whispered yes.'
